Painting lessons with Nana

In the Zülpich region, there are few creative or artistic opportunities for children, teenagers, and adults. This is precisely where my painting classes come in. They are designed to create space for creativity, curiosity, and personal experimentation.

The painting lessons are aimed at children, teenagers, and adults aged 8 and up . We work with various materials such as watercolor, gouache, pencils, ink, and paper. I guide the creative process, offer suggestions, explain techniques, and provide support where needed.

The painting lessons are divided into two different offerings.

The Creative Introduction is about discovering your own creativity and playfully expressing it. This program is designed for both children and adults and is intentionally open to all. No prior knowledge is required. The focus is not on painting "well" or achieving a specific result, but rather on following your own intuition and developing confidence in your own expression.

The Artistic Advanced Course is aimed at people who already have some experience in creative work. Here, techniques can be further developed, new materials explored, and topics such as illustration, composition, and expression refined – within the scope of my expertise and with individual guidance. In this course format, I also offer digital painting lessons using Procreate on the iPad.

The painting sessions are not traditional art classes . There are no grades, no right or wrong answers, and no fixed goal to be achieved. Instead, participants are encouraged to experiment, discard ideas, start again, and discover new things.

1. The Creative Start

The Creative Introduction is aimed at children and adults and is an open, playful program for anyone who wants to find or rediscover their creativity. No prior knowledge is required.

The focus is not on the result, but on the creative process. It's about experimenting with colors and materials, trying new things, and following your own intuition. Without pressure to perform and without the expectation of making something "perfect."

For children, the course offers a break from school and rigid structures. They are encouraged to explore, make mistakes, and develop their own unique expression. For adults, the Creative Beginning can be a conscious break from everyday life, a chance to slow down, let go, and find inner peace.

Through playful activities, patience, mindfulness, and the ability to accept imperfection are practiced almost incidentally. Creativity is experienced here as something vibrant, calm, free, and personal.

2. Artistic In-Depth Study

The Artistic Advanced Course is aimed at those who have already gained initial experience in creative work and wish to further develop their skills. The focus here is on deepening knowledge of techniques, materials, and means of expression – from image composition and illustration to specific painting and drawing methods.

In this course, you can explore and combine various media : watercolor, gouache, pencils, ink, or mixed media. I will provide individual guidance, offer tips on techniques, show you ways to implement your ideas, and support you in developing your own artistic style.

In this course format, I can also offer an introduction to or further development of your skills in the digital painting software Procreate . The prerequisites are your own Apple iPad with the Procreate app already installed and an Apple Pencil compatible with the iPad. If you have any questions or uncertainties regarding hardware, software, or compatibility, please feel free to send me a message.

Artistic In-Depth Study is not a traditional lesson. There are no fixed assignments, grades, or pressure. The goal is to strengthen and further develop your artistic self-confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the painting lessons take place?

I'm located in 53909 Zülpich. I'm happy to come to your home for painting lessons. Lessons for individuals can also take place in my studio. Let me know what works best for you!

How many people can participate in the sessions?

Individual sessions are certainly possible, but I can also offer sessions for groups. We can discuss this further when you message me – if you're already planning for multiple participants, please mention it in your message! For example, here are some possibilities:

- several siblings who take painting lessons together
- Parents and children who want to paint together
- Friends (of any age) who would like to meet regularly to paint

The course is limited to a maximum of three people. If children are participating, I kindly request that an adult chaperone remains at the house.

How long do the painting lessons last?

My price list includes different options: the short hour (60 min), the medium hour (90 min) and the long hour (120 min).

What about the material?

For my art lessons, I work with relatively high-quality materials, so a simple paint box from school isn't sufficient. Since good materials are often expensive, it's not absolutely necessary to bring your own. My price list includes a flat fee for materials, which I then conveniently provide. If, after a few lessons, it becomes clear that the art lessons are enjoyable and you'd like to continue, I can gladly put together a suitable materials set for you, which you can purchase once.
If you already have special materials, or would like to work with materials that are not mentioned in my descriptions, please let me know and I will see if I can offer you painting lessons using these materials.

What if I want to learn something specific?

I have a diverse artistic style myself and have gained experience in various creative projects over the years. Since I obviously can't do everything, and I can teach you what you'd like to learn, it's best if we discuss it in more detail. Feel free to send me an email and attach some photos to show me what you'd like to learn or what your current skill level is.
